چکیده

Patients had the 3Tesla MRI scan after 4.5 days from the index event. The structural MRI protocol, including standard MR sequences (DWI axial image, 3D T1 MP RAGE, 3D FLAIR, GRE) was applied to identify MR visible abnormalities. Axial diffusion-weighted images were acquired by using a spin-echo echo-planar imaging sequence (repetition time (TR)/echo time (TE), 2800/77 ms; field of view (FOV), 230 mm; matrix size, 128/128; slice thickness, 4 mm; averages, 2, maximum b value, 1000 s/mm2). The parameters of the other imaging sequences were as follows:

Cognitive Impairment in Ischaemic Lacunar Stroke

Ischaemic cerebral small-vessel disease (SVD) can be visualised on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans as lacunar infarcts, white matter hyperintensities and cerebral microbleeds, and has been recognised as the most frequent cause of cognitive impairment of vascular origin. Lacunar infarction is the most common manifestation of SVD and accounts for approximately 25 % of all brain infar...

Higher ambulatory blood pressure relates to new cerebral microbleeds: 2-year follow-up study in lacunar stroke patients.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Elevated blood pressure (BP) is associated with the presence of cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) in cross-sectional studies. However, longitudinal studies did not show a convincing relationship. We aimed to determine the association between elevated BP levels and the occurrence of new CMBs after a 2-year follow-up in first-ever lacunar stroke patients using ambulatory BP monit...

Cerebral microbleeds are associated with lacunar stroke defined clinically and radiologically, independently of white matter lesions.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Associations among microbleeds, white matter lesions (WMLs), and small deep infarcts on imaging have been reported. Because many of these imaging infarcts were asymptomatic, the relationship of microbleeds to clinical lacunar stroke is unclear. An association between microbleeds and clinically defined lacunar stroke might suggest a common causal microangiopathy. METHODS...

Ambulatory blood pressure in patients with lacunar stroke: association with total MRI burden of cerebral small vessel disease.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Asymptomatic lacunar infarcts, white matter lesions, cerebral microbleeds, and enlarged perivascular spaces are MRI markers of cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD). Higher blood pressure (BP) levels are associated with the presence of these markers separately, but the association with the total burden of cSVD on brain MRI, expressed by the simultaneous presence of multipl...

Association of Postural Instability With Asymptomatic Cerebrovascular Damage and Cognitive Decline

Brain MRI in elderly individuals frequently detects asymptomatic cerebral small-vessel disease (cSVD), such as small infarction in the perforator territory (namely lacunar infarction) and periventricular hyperintensity (PVH). Frequency of lacunar infarction and PVH has been reported to increase with age, potentially indicating strong risk of future symptomatic stroke. In addition to these ische...
